ZPA: A Smart Home Privacy Analysis System Based on ZigBee Encrypted Traffic

Currently, the ZigBee protocol is widely used in smart homes and provides convenience to people. However, home devices often carry a large amount of real physical world information, which may result information leakage problems. In this paper, reveal privacy security issues existing ZigBee-based networks, we design analysis system based on ZigBee-encrypted traffic, called ZPA. ZPA can extract data features device’s operating mode time window use state-of-the-art machine-learning models identify type status that could leak users’ private information. Through 20 different from 5 manufacturers, results show even if traffic protected by encryption, accuracy proposed method device identification state inference reach approximately 93% 98%, respectively. The types statuses will user’s activity certain extent. still needs be further strengthened.
